朱古力瘤又稱「卵巢內膜異位囊腫」，也算是子宮內膜異位的一種，簡單說就是子宮內膜跑到了卵巢。因為子宮內膜的碎片隨經血逆流經輸卵管進入盆腔，附著在卵巢表面或盆腔其他部位，形成「異位囊腫」，這種異位的子宮內膜仍受卵巢性荷爾蒙的週期性影響，也會發生「月經」樣出血，經血無法排出體外，儲留在卵巢內。久了以後，儲留於卵巢內的經血越積越多，使卵巢增大，形成陳舊性積血的囊包，裡面其實是長期累的陳舊血，外觀呈巧克力糊狀，故又稱為「朱古力瘤」。

破血消癥、消癥散結的中藥譬如三棱、莪術、土鱉蟲、水蛭、桃仁、皂角刺能令較大的囊腫得到控制，配合針灸、艾灸能舒緩腹痛、盆腔內反復的炎症，亦能調整患者的卵巢功能及免疫力。即使是選擇西醫手術後，亦可配合中藥針灸能夠提升患者盆腔恢復能力，預防子宮內膜異位症復發。
葵涌
中醫認為，子宮內膜異位主要的病機是血瘀，活血化瘀、溫經驅寒、行氣化瘀都是中醫常用的治療方法。
張婉蘭醫師表示，中醫認為「朱古力瘤」的發生，主要是臟腑失調，氣血不和，因新產、經行不慎、傷於風寒，或情志內傷所致。臨床常見的有氣滯、血瘀、痰濕三種証型。當瘀血留在體內，促使身體產生自身免疫反應，抑制排卵，並幹擾受精卵著床，最後導致不孕，中醫稱之為「濕熱瘀結」。

答：中醫建議患者在手術後接受中藥和針灸的調理，改善體質，有助降低復發的風險。免疫力低的人易罹患子宮內膜異位症，所以提高免疫力，有助於預防朱古力瘤。
